What do we need?
As the Manager on the Payment Variance service line, you will lead 3-5 client engagements, overseeing operational staff and ensuring client needs are being met. You will also work closely with senior leadership to create revenue targets and develop efficient departmental workflow and staffing. The ideal candidate has experience in revenue recovery within Hospital Revenue Cycle Management and a desire to both lead client relationships and manage internal operations.
What will you provide?
- Analysis of underpayments between hospitals and insurance carriers to identify areas of lost revenue
- Models claim data and create in depth audit priorities that align with client needs and internal revenue targets
- Lead 3-5 client engagements and oversee operational staff assigned to those teams
- Creates meeting presentations; internal and external
- Create invoices and assist with monthly payment posting and auditing
- Collaborates with senior leadership to set revenue targets; key figure in planning and structuring departmental workflow and staffing
- Manage staff performance by providing regular feedback, performance reviews, 1:1 meetings; ensuring members are meeting a minimum hourly rate expectations and resolving any staff related issues
- Overseeing and engaged in the hiring and training of staff
Requirements
- Thorough understanding of insurance appeal methodologies (Managed Care, Medicare and Medicaid); experience may include negotiating, auditing, or appeal writing
- Self-directed and organized with superior analytical and problem-solving skills; Must be comfortable with large datasets; experience with Microsoft software/SQL, Excel, and or comparable databases platforms
- Demonstrated understanding/experience with InterQual, Milliman Care Guidelines, and other criteria used for medical necessity determinations preferred
- Demonstrates attention to detail with strong critical thinking, problem-solving, and effective decision-making skills
- Proven leader, experience managing teams; ability to motivate and train junior staff

Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and experience
- Prior experience leading and managing team members preferred

The US base pay range for this position starts at 63,000 annually. Individual pay is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, job-related skills, experience, education, training, licensure or certifications obtained. Market, location and organizational factors are also considered. In addition to base salary, a competitive benefits package is offered.
